    Presentation: Paragliding Mount Everest

    19:00-21:00
    2022.09.07

    Date: 7 September 2022
    Venue: City Rock Presentation Room
    Presenter: Pierre Carter

Pierre will joining us to talk about his latest paragliding success on Mount Everest!

South African born Pierre Carter will climb to the summits of the highest mountain on each of the 7 continents and attempt to paraglide off them.

Pierre first thought about the idea of paragliding from the summit of the highest mountain on each continent, known as the 7 summits, back in 1998. After 2000, Pierre began his ascent to adventure.

He started with Elbrus and Aconcagua – successfully summiting both. However, to continue the remaining five mountains would be an expensive exercise, so he pulled together a team of friends that could join him in filming and documenting these experiences that he could share with the rest of us.

With the support and film crew, they returned to the mountains in n effort to capture footage of every summit and flight.

Now, Pierre seeks to accomplish the remaining summits with the company of willing friends.

Castle Gorge weekend 17 and 18 September. Come one come all for a weekend in to tackle the alien invasive plants in Castle Gorge. We’ll cover Jerusalem kloof, Cascade kloof and more spots around the campsite and waterfall.

Some rope work will be needed at the main waterfall. We will need some 4×4 vehicles to go up and will camp at the main campsite. Bring along the usual armor like handgloves, spades, or whatever you find best for crofton weed or any other weeds like Jerusalem cherries.

Your support is much needed and appreciated. Please let us know in advance if you can come both days or only one day so that the necessary transport arrangements can be made. Looking forward to see you there. Contact Christa to join the whatsapp group if you are interested.
