Conservation: Castle Gorge
https://mcsajohannesburg.org/event/conservation-castle-gorge/Date: 26 – 27 November 2022
Venue: Castle Gorge, Magaliesberg
Meet Type: Conservation
Meet Leader: Tam Cheidegger
Contact: CG Pipes and PompomThe Rand Water access road that runs through the Castle Gorge property became incised and deep water channels formed where the wheels of trespassing/maintenance vehicles drove through the wetland.
Rather than having bulldozers and heavy equipment bring in foreign rock and degrade the wetland further we hope to try a different approach by manually clearing out blocked pipes under the track.Once this task has been done, we will scout around to find new pompom seedlings sprouting. Come share in the joy of truly making a difference.
We will drive up in 4x4s from the CG parking. Meeting at 8:00 on Saturday, returning Sunday lunchtime. Join for the weekend or just one day.
