    10 November 2019 – Climbing @ Trident

Trident is an attractive kloof whose proximity to Johannesburg makes for a very pleasant day’s outing. Route finding is reasonable as one can orientate oneself without too much difficulty.  Hiking is limited but pleasant with easy access up through the kloof to the upper reaches. While there is no swimming there is permanent water in the lower part and upper reaches of the kloof. There is good birding and some magnificent trees.  There are a number of nettle bushes so one needs to keep one’s eyes open! Access is restricted to Cavern Kloof only.

A parking fee of R40/car is payable, as well as non-member meet fees.

Booking essential. Chris will provide final details. . .

If you’re up to climbing after last night’s camp-fire! Lovely weekend out. . . Cedarberg Kloof is named after the unusual rock formations in the area that are reminiscent of those found in the Cape Cederberg/ Rocklands area.  The top end of the kloof is relatively flat, with lots of shade and a little stream, making it a great spot for children, while the further downstream one goes the steeper and more dramatic the terrain becomes.
