  • Orientation at Waterval Boven
    All day
    2017.09.09-2017.09.10

    Unnamed Road, South Africa

    Unnamed Road, South Africa

With over 700 bolted routes, Waterval Boven / The Restaurant is South Africa’s prime sport climbing destination. There are numerous crags, all within an 8 kilometre radius of town, which cater for a range of levels – from beginner (grades 9 – 14) to expert (above 30). East of access to most crags makes Boven an ideal destination for both adults and children. Although there are some quallity traditional climbs, the area is known for its high concentration of excellent single pitch (between 12 – 35 metres) sport routes.

  • Castle Gorge weeding meet
    08:00-17:00
    2017.09.09-2017.09.10

    Magaliesburg, Gauteng, South Africa

We need a few climbers to remove the crofton at and below the waterfall and one needs to be roped up to get at them. There are small bug weeds in upper Castle Gullyu and some jerusalem cherries in Jerusalem Kloof, growing with the crofton and we need to check downstream from the waterfall (pictured) to Maretlwane boundary. CG is a large area to be checked, so we need both days and we need you all! But camping at CG in spring is great, and it may even be warm enough to swim, so bring cozzies.
We drive in from the north (for weeding ONLY and serious 4×4) and camp at the usual camp-site, a 10 minute walk from the cars. It is possible to camp where we park, but we prefer not to disturb the parking space more than is necessary.

Meet as usual at 8h30 at Seremodi north parking [A64 Biozetica sign at gate]. Please let Otti know if you can come and if you need further directions. You are welcome to come for one day only if you cannot get away for the whole weekend.

Bring garden gloves, split-tip garden tool or similar, and cros to wear when working in the water (if it rains before the time – right now it is rather dry).

Bronkies is a single, long crag above the Bronkhorstspruit River. It offers more than 60 bolted sport routes in the easy to moderate range in a pleasant, family-friendly setting. In summer the routes go into the sun after lunch time, so don’t leave home without sun block.
